About BiostatQuest

BiostatQuest is a free, gamified biostatistics trainer built for medical students, residents, and early-career researchers who want to genuinely understand methods — not just recognize buzzwords.

Why this exists

Most biostatistics learning material falls into two camps: textbooks that are rigorous but dense, and short videos that are friendly but shallow. Neither teaches you to reason under uncertainty. BiostatQuest is built around active recall, clinical context, and spaced repetition — the three things the learning-science literature consistently says actually work.

How it works

• Cases, not flashcards. Each case sets up a clinical or research scenario, then asks you a sequence of questions that build on it.
• Spaced repetition. Missed questions come back on an adaptive schedule (SM-2 algorithm).
• Deep dives. Every question links to an explainer with intuition, formula, assumptions, pitfalls, and references.
• Progress sync. Play as a guest, or sign in with your email to sync across devices (coming soon).

Who built this

BiostatQuest is built by a researcher who develops R packages for statistical methodology. The 1,000-question bank has been tagged, deduplicated, and method-categorized — every item routes to one of 42 method deep-dives.
