BioStat Quest is an educational tool for learning biostatistics. It is not a medical device, clinical decision-support system, or substitute for professional judgement. Nothing on this site constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or statistical consulting for a specific patient, trial, or publication.

The short version

You can use BioStat Quest if you agree to these terms

By accessing BioStat Quest ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service. The Terms apply to everyone — guests, signed-in users, and future paying subscribers.

We wrote this in plain language on purpose. The meaning is legally binding all the same.

The full terms

Eligibility & acceptable use

You must be 16 or older to use the Service. By using BioStat Quest you agree not to: attempt to access other users' accounts; scrape, resell, or mirror the content; reverse-engineer or systematically copy question banks; upload malware; or use the Service to harass others. We reserve the right to suspend accounts engaged in these activities.

Educational purpose — not medical or statistical advice

The cases, questions, explanations, and deep-dives on BioStat Quest are illustrative educational content. They are not:

  • Clinical guidance for diagnosing or treating a specific patient.
  • Statistical consulting for a specific trial, manuscript, or dataset.
  • A substitute for professional judgement by a licensed clinician or qualified biostatistician.

Always seek independent professional advice before applying any statistical method to real decisions with clinical, regulatory, or publication consequences. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

Accounts and security

Signing in is optional but required to sync progress across devices and appear on the leaderboard. You're responsible for keeping your email access secure — anyone with your email inbox can sign in as you (we authenticate via magic link / one-time code). Notify us at info@biostatquest.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

You can delete your account any time by emailing us. Deletion removes your email, progress JSON, event history, and subscription record within 30 days.

Content ownership

All cases, questions, explanations, illustrations, and code on BioStat Quest are © BioStat Quest unless explicitly attributed otherwise. You may use the Service for your personal learning, and you may cite individual questions or explanations with attribution. You may not:

  • Republish the question bank in whole or in substantial part.
  • Use our content to train a competing product or machine-learning model.
  • Resell access to the Service.

Cited sources (papers, textbooks, methodology references) remain the property of their respective authors and publishers and are used under fair-use principles for educational commentary.

Feedback and reports

If you report a question error, suggest a feature, or send feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use that feedback to improve the Service, with no obligation to credit you. Don't send anything you consider confidential.

Subscriptions and payments (Pro tier)

All 50+ cases are currently free for individual learners. If you subscribe to a paid tier (Pro, Institutional), payments are processed by Stripe under their terms. Subscriptions auto-renew at the posted price until cancelled. Cancel any time from your account; the current billing period remains active through its end date. We offer a 7-day refund on new subscriptions if you cancel within 7 days of purchase and have not used Pro-only features extensively — email us and we'll process it.

Price changes for existing subscribers take effect at the next renewal with at least 30 days' notice.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. We make no guarantees that content is free of errors, that questions perfectly reflect current guidelines, or that scheduled items arrive at optimal intervals for your individual learning.

We're a small team. Downtime happens. Bugs happen. We fix them as fast as we reasonably can.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BioStat Quest, its operators, and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to: clinical decisions made in reliance on educational content; errors in submitted manuscripts or theses; loss of progress data; or financial loss.

Our total aggregate liability to you, for any and all claims relating to the Service, shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) €50.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, abuse of the Service, or extended inactivity. You may stop using the Service at any time by signing out or deleting your account.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Any disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of Istanbul, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights under the laws of your country of residence.

Changes to these Terms

We'll update these Terms when we need to. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date and surfaced on next sign-in. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you don't, stop using the Service and request account deletion.
